Blooded War Coral (Favites pentagona)
The Blooded war coral has a very bright green background adorned with red splotches, which is how it earned its named.
The red is the recessive colouration, therefore the more red the more desirable the frag is.
It prefers medium light, therefore it is ideally placed in the mid to low areas of the tank
It is an LPS coral (Large polyp stony) which has some of the most diverse and striking colouration of any coral.
They are reasonably fast growers in the correct environment and are great at encrusting over the rockwork
Although correct lighting and flow is important, its also wise to take into consideration Calcium, Alkalinity, and Magnesium along with various other trace elements found in natural seawater.
Additional feeding isn't required to maintain its health however it will feed on micro-plankton and very fine coral foods.
Be sure not to place it too close to other corals as at night it will release its sweeper tentacles which are approximately 1cm long.
