The Grafted Montipora is one of the rarest Montipora's available in the UK.
Although rarer and more expensive than other montipora capricornis, their care requirements are pretty much exactly the same and in the right conditions, they can exhibit some of the fastest SPS growth.
This coral is one of the newer pieces to my collection, coming all the way from mainland Europe at the start of 2019 and so far I've only grown it under LED's.
It is an SPS coral (small polyp stony) which grows as a plate and has a dramatic contrast of red and green colours, which is how it's earned its name.
This coral needs good lighting, and high flow is very important to maintain optimum health, as the flow will keep detritus from settling on them.
In addition to this, it will also require the correct levels of Calcium, Alkalinity, and Magnesium along with various other trace elements found in natural seawater.
Additional feeding isn't required to maintain its health, as they get the majority of their food from photosynthesis.
They will feed on micro-plankton and very fine coral foods.
Be sure to keep an eye on your nutrient levels though, as excessive nutrients can cause it to lose colouration.
